Memorial Day Weekend and Labor Day Weekend just kind of sneak up on me every year. When it comes to the Fourth of July and New Year’s Eve I’m ON it. I’m thinking months in advance about a game plan, logistics — and let’s be real — the Instagram aesthetic. But when it comes to the long weekends at the beginning and end of summer, I’m always scrambling. You know when Jean Belcher said he hated summer because there was too much pressure to have fun? I lowkey feel that when Memorial Day and Labor Day come around. Even if all you want to do is sit around your apartment in your underwear or catch up on errands or your to-do list, you see your friends on boats and suddenly you feel like you have to be doing something fun and cool and Snapchat story worthy.
I could have gone to Wrightsville Beach for the weekend with my lovely roommates (and probably should’ve), but decided to take advantage of an empty apartment and stay in the city. Maybe I’ll do something fun, maybe I’ll get ahead on work, maybe I’ll blog, maybe I’ll clean and maybe I’ll be a complete loser and rewatch the Ozark and an assortment of Disney movies all weekend. Only time will tell.
But if you’re like me, staying in the greater D.C. area for the weekend, with no idea what you’ll be doing, I’ve got you covered with a wide array of plans in the city between tomorrow and Monday.
