Blog Annoucement

As usual, I’ve been extremely busy with work, and The Pretty Patriot has suffered as a result. I’m not proud of it, and I’m tired of making these kinds of announcements on my blog. I want to consistently put out good content as well as evolve and expand, but every time I think I’ve got a handle on things and have worked out a system that will work for me, there’s some new twist in my personal or professional life that throws everything out of wack and has me back at the drawing board.

2017 is already shaping up to be one of the most exciting years of my life, and one of my most important goals is making it a catalyst for my blog. I’ve experimented with different ideas and will continue to do so, but I have been working nonstop recently to ensure a year of steady content at the very least from here on out.

If there’s no other lesson to be taken from Donald Trump and his election, it’s that anything really is possible with enough work ethic and determination. In 2017, I want to make time to try new things and do what I want to do. I’m going to keep enjoying myself and making the most of my youth while I have it, but a part of that is being smart with your time and making the most of your natural talents. I’m getting more serious about this blog and the role I want it to play in shaping the narrative of what it means to be a right of center millennial, and I’m excited for the year ahead.

To new beginnings.

  • I work hard because I have a dream of stacking hundreds on each blade of a ceiling fan above my bed (that will be mostly ornamental because I’ll have central air) and making it rain .

  • It would be nice if 60° in nova/dc actually meant one thing instead of anywhere from 40° to 80° so I could pack these boots away until the fall once and for all
  • Yesterday while watching the updates roll in on Notre Dame, I couldn’t help but feel discouraged as I read tweet after tweet from people wanting to believe and see the worst in the world. It had to be arson. It had to be terrorism. It had to represent the end of civilization as we know it. But then I remembered that the internet isn’t real life, and even if human nature leaves all of us exposed to and malleable by hate and fear, most people are good. And I don’t know if the glory of a masterpiece that was constructed over the course of 2 centuries can ever be repeated, but I know that beautiful things are born from tragedy. Something iconic and special has been lost, but I like to believe something iconic and special will come of it. I usually only feel this when I watch les mis, but vive la France.
